Fraud Investigations Lead to Seven Arrests in Leon County

Sheriff Larry Campbell says a fraud ring has been dismantled in Leon County. Sheriff Campbell stated, “These investigations were brought to our attention by vigilant employees in the loss prevention sections of our local Wal-Mart and Sam’s Club stores. Their diligence coupled with good information sharing, surveillance and hard work from the detectives uncovered and resolved several crimes at once.”

Man Pleads Guilty in Online Sextortion Plot Using 'Justin Bieber' Ruse

Christopher Patrick Gunn, age 31, of Montgomery, Alabama, pled guilty today to producing child pornography in connection with an online sextortion scheme that spans the globe, U.S. Attorney George L. Beck, Jr., announced. This case is being investigated by the Montgomery field office of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, with assistance from the Alabama Bureau of Investigation, the Prattville (Alabama) Police Department, the Walton County (Florida) Sheriff’s Department, the Biloxi (Mississippi) Police Department, and the Livingston Parish (Louisiana) Sheriff’s Office.

Florida July Home Sales Up, Prices Rise

Sales of existing homes rose 9.8 percent in July from a year ago as the state continues a long, steady improvement, according to date released Wednesday by Florida Realtors.
