Dallas, GA (AP) - Paulding County authorities say an
11-year-old boy is facing a weapons charge after he was caught with a gun in his backpack at school.
Students told administrators at East Paulding Middle School on Monday that the boy had the gun. The school officials then alerted the Paulding County Sheriff's Office that the student had the handgun. A resource officer responded at the school and found the .40 caliber gun in the boy's bookbag.
The weapon was taken from the student without incident and he was transported to the sheriff's office and charged with possession of a weapon on school grounds. A juvenile judge has released the student into his mother's custody.

As a parent of a child that goes to this school I don't find your comments humorous at all. I send my kids to school thinking that they are safe and taken care of. The thought that my son could've lost his life on Monday is absolutely terrifying. Have some sensitivity. Why did an 11 year old have access to a gun? His parents should be investigated and held responsible in some way. I'm absolutely sick about this.

From Paulding County, the kid was probably just out shooting Coke and Skoal cans the day before and forgot he left the gun in his bookbag... Luckily they didn't search him really well or the ATF woulda been involved because of the full Skoal can in his back pocket.

#1: where did he get the gun? #2: was the gun loaded? #3: was there a trigger lock on the gun? #4 who is the legal owner? #5: did the child know the gun was real?
