Lowndes County, Georgia - October 27, 2011 -

On October 27, 2011 at 7:06 AM the Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office received a report of an incident occurring at the school bus stop on DW Wright Road in northern Lowndes County. A 12-year-old boy struck a 13-year-old girl in the face, breaking the child’s nose and also knocking out one of her teeth. The little girl ran home and her mother called 911. Deputies and EMS responded. The victim was transported to SGMC.

When the bus arrived the offender boarded the bus and left the scene. The bus driver was unaware that the incident had taken place. Deputies at the victim’s residence relayed the information concerning the offender’s identification and destination to the LCSO School Resource Officer at Pine Grove Middle School. When the offender arrived at Pine Grove he was taken into custody by S.R.O. Robert Adkins and detained temporarily at the Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office. The offender was charged with one count of Aggravated Battery.

The offender was later taken before Lowndes Juvenile Judge Wayne Ellerbee who ordered the offender to be transferred to Thomasville Regional Youth Detention Center.

Neither the victim nor the offender’s names can be released due to their age.

the point is,if in fact she provoked it in some matter,he could have walked away, without resorting to physical violence. and if in fact she did provoke him,it is more than likely he resorted to violence through learned behavior that it is okay, normal, to react in such a way. look at the parents or older siblings and you will find a history of physical violence.

Its very un-fair how people chose to say that the little boy is so wrong because he hit a girl! I have a feeling if it was the other way around and she broke his nose and knocked his tooth out it would not have been such a big deal. I am not encouraging men to hit women but women shouldnt hit men either. Its so many different factor to this situation I do not understand how someone can judge him that much off a few sentences thats only pointing the finger at him. I am sure the little wouldnt just come out of no where and jump on a little girl maybe she did something to provoke him or maybe shes the one who actually hit him first he just got the best of her. Children fight all the time yes in this case it got out of hand but that does not mean he should have to go to jail for it and if he does goes to jail the little girl should have to go as well they both took it upon themselves to fight each other and shes actually older then he is. They both should know right from wrong at that point in their lives. So both should get punished or neither get in trouble at all.

this is so true the girl must have been white thats why ellerbee did what he did. they need him out of office so someone new can do the right things and stand for something not negetivety.

Excusing that Childs behavior is akin to excusing a violent Rapist as a poor misunderstood soul. If you assault another in a Non Self Defense situation then you should pay. Period. Parents are not held accountable for no discipline at home. Schools are not allowed to do anything because its mean. So when these " children" become adults the only ones left to fix them are the Jails. And you wonder why it happens. If you do the crime , pay the time. No exceptions.

Speaking as a mother of a girl who was hit in the eye by a boy when she was in middle school, I'm pleased to know this jerk will be delt with. My daughter received an orbit blow out fracture when she was hit in the face by a unruley rat. I called the police and it was reported to the school and the resource office at the school, nothing was done, no charges, no school suspension, nothing,no payment for her doctor bill. According to the police because my daughter hit him back, charges could be brought aginst her also, even though she was defending herself. Put this animal where he belong (under the jail). If you're tough enough to do the crime, you're tough enough to do the time. THAT'S ONE BLACK MOTHERS OPINION!!!!!!!

Exactly what does the fact that you are black have to do with anything?

You should learn to get all the facts before u speak! u don't know what happened between the 2 CHILDREN! Maybe he was defending himself from her you never know. Maybe she was a bully if one child is getting in trouble for the fight they both should be charged for it. Just because it was opposite sex and he happened to win the fight he alone shouldn't get punishment for it that's totally unfair and crazy. Both parents should have pressed charges. You say u are a mother yet u are calling a child a animal? Who are u to judge a child? Children fight all the time its part of growing up and what the hell does you being a black mother have to do with anything? that was ignorant to say.

IT is two sides to a story. Don't judge the lil boy until you know the whole story. All we can do is pray things work out for both families.

You can go all over media sites and see our future leaders of Amerika setting up fights, girl fights, guy fights, setting up kids for "stomp downs"...you know the 5 on 1 type...In the early 80's we'd all meet at an off site location after school (football field pkg lot)and throw down, 1 on 1. It seems now that the girls are getting more brazen, even more so than the brawlers of my day. Yes, I did see girls challenge boys, get in their faces, and eventually hit them. Then the beat down came. Because these are kids we will never know the real truth and it will be covered up by existing laws.

Curious, if the girl is punching him, is it ok for him to defend himself? In self defense we teach kids not to strike unless it is last resort. Maybe....

I personally believe this male child should be punished because if no action is taken he will think that hitting any gender is something he can get a way with. What should be his punishment, I cannot say but he neeeds to know that there are consequences for your actions as a teen or adult. I hope this helpless little girl has a speedy recovery. I 'm sure this had to be traumatizing for her.

To What Really Happened? Even if words was exchanged, no one has the right to put their hands on anyone. I tell my 12yr old every day that words may hurt your feelings for a while...but when you cross the line by putting your hands on someone and causing physical harm is unexceptable.
