Jefferson County - September 16, 2012
The Florida Highway Patrol is attempting to identify the person killed in an early morning crash in Jefferson County.
According to the FHP, a 2004 Pontiac was speeding east on County Road 146 (Ashville Highway). A Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department’s marked patrol car was attempting to stop the Pontiac.
According to the release, the Pontiac went off the road and went onto the grass where it hit a concrete culvert.
The car was air-borne and hit two trees.
The driver died in the crash. A toxicology report is pending.
The Florida Highway Patrol was assisted by Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department, Jefferson County Fire Rescue.
