Moultrie, GA - The 36th Annual Sunbelt Ag Expo was in full swing Tuesday as thousands of people flocked to Spence Field in Moultrie.

"We have 1200 plus of the greatest exhibitors in agriculture, showcasing the latest technology for the farmers to come in and see and gather information to take back to their farms, to improve their profitability; that's the name of the game," said Chip Blalock, the Executive Director of the expo.

One father and son farming duo from North Georgia said they put in some miles to get to the expo.

"It's about a four hour drive down from Clarkesville to here," Tim Teague, Jr. said. "We just came down to see all the new products that are out."

His father, Tim Teague, Sr. added, "I'm checking out stuff as far as some new equipment for putting in fences and also some new tractor equipment."

Organizers say the expo isn't just for ag enthusiasts. There's plenty of food to choose from, activities for the whole family, and even chain saw demonstrations.

While the expo may be held in South Georgia, the spotlight is on Florida this year.

"Their VIVA 500 display tells the story of Florida Ag: 'Then and Now;' a historical perspective from the present, all the way back to when Ponce de Leon founded Florida 500 years ago," Blalock said. "It's a fantastic interactive display."

Organizers say the expo is not only fun and informative, but also offers a great boost to the local economy.

"The economic impact is well in the excess of 16 million dollars just for the three days of the show and when you add in the week before and the week after, the set up and the take down, it easily exceeds 20 million dollars,' Blalock said.

The Sunbelt Ag Expo will be in Moultrie until Thursday evening.
