Moultrie Police said the 6th grader was running on a well-known bike path when he followed the path into a main roadway without looking.

A witness said the driver, Recardo Davis of Thomasville, tried to swerve around the boy, but could avoid hitting him.

Officials said the boy was admitted to Colquitt County Regional Medical Center for a fractured ankle and has since been released in good condition.

Police said Davis will not face any charges following the incident.
