Adel, GA - Fifty seven year old Donald Mims is being charged with robbing the Heritage Bank in Adel on Thursday around noon.
Adel Police Sargent Jonathan Blake said "there was no gun brandished, there was nobody taken by force. He simply walked into the bank and demanded money from a teller. In which the teller cooperated and the suspect left the bank without incident."
Cops say he got onto I-75 heading south... That's when he was spotted by Lowndes County Sheriff's deputies. They pulled him over and took him into custody without incident.
Lieutenant Stryde Jones of the Lowndes County Sheriff's Office said "there was specific evidence found in the car that linked him to the bank robbery in Adel and potentially evidence that might link him to other bank robberies."
Sargent Blake went on to say "there are agencies in Florida that are looking at this suspect as a person of interest in several unsolved bank robberies and robberies of cash advance stores."
Mims was taken to the Lowndes County jail where investigators, including the FBI questioned him. The Lowndes County Sheriff's Office says he admitted to robbing the bank in Adel.
Adel resident Bryant Cobb said "it's good that no one got hurt and that law enforcement stepped up and did they're job and got the person."
Mims is currently being held in the Cook County Jail. He's been charged with robbery and theft by taking. More charges could be brought.
