The American Red Cross reports a dire need for blood and platelet donors.
They say many blood drives and centers were shut down across Georgia, as people battled the snow and ice.
There's a particular need for people with type O to donate because it can go to any patient regardless of their blood type.
"If you were in need of blood or someone you loved needed blood, then you would hope that someone else had taken the time to give blood," said Lois Allbritton, of Valdosta, who donated blood along with her husband. "So, why not come and do it yourself?"
The American Red Cross encourages citizens to give blood as soon as possible.
