Valdosta, GA - South Georgia Medical Center received a top honor today in Valdosta.
South Georgia Medical Center ranks number one in the state for Spine Surgery. That's according to Healthgrades.
Healthgrades is a leading provider of information about doctors and hospitals throughout the United States. The award ceremony occurred here at the SGMC Surgery Center Lobby at Noon today. The hospitals spine care program was also ranked in the top ten for the entire country. Between 2009 and 2011 the hospital treated more than 1500 spine patients.
Eric Gee, Orthopedic Spine Surgeon: "I think one of the most important things is to not get scared. We train very hard. Very long grueling training process. We do this day in and day out so fear's not really a factor. We've got a job to do and we set out to do it and we always accomplish our goals."
Healthgrades evaluated roughly 4500 hospitals around the country before giving South Georgia Medical Center the award.
