ATLANTA (CBS ATLANTA) -
An 18-month-old toddler was killed after being shot in the chest with a BB rifle on Friday morning.
Atlanta police said the toddler's mother called 911 just after 9 a.m. to report her child was shot.
The shooting happened at the Boyton Village Apartments located in the 1000 block of Hank Aaron Drive. After the shooting, the child was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital where he later died.
The child's uncle Willie Dickerson, told CBS Atlanta News the toddler's name was Jesstin Sellers and the child's father's name is Jesse Sellers.
According to police, three adults and three other children were inside of the home at the time of the shooting.
Dickerson said Jesse Sellers was playing with a BB rifle, trying to scare his son, when he pulled the trigger.
Dickerson told CBS Atlanta News Jesse Sellers didn't realize the gun was loaded and that he said it was an accident.
Police said they are waiting for a report from the Fulton County Medical Examiner to determine the child's exact cause of death.
Detectives said Jesse Sellers is facing charges, however, it is not clear what charges the father is facing.
The Division of Family Child Services is determining what to do with the other children.
