[UPDATE] Authorities: 13-year-old Georgia Girl Shot by Brother

Albany, GA (AP) - Authorities say a 15-year-old Albany boy who
shot his sister to death in the family's home will not be charged
in the incident.

Greg Blackmon with the Dougherty County District Attorney's
office says the shooting of Lejuawlard Lunsford likely will be
ruled accidental. Blackmon said Thomas Lunsford, who is mentally
disabled, was playing with a rifle Tuesday and shot his sister in
the neck.

Blackmon says the rifle had a safety but it wasn't installed
properly. He said the parents were at work at the time of the
shooting but two other teen relatives were in the house.

Blackmon said the parents also will not be charged. No one else
was injured in the shooting.

Dougherty County Coroner Emma Quimbley says Lejuawlard Lunsford
died Tuesday night, likely from a gunshot wound to the neck.
Quimbley said the teen was pronounced dead at the hospital.

The Albany Herald reports that Greg Blackmon with the Dougherty

Police are not releasing details of the shooting, referring all
calls to the district attorney's office. Officials with the
Dougherty County District Attorney's office have not returned calls
from The Associated Press.
