People packed up their best pulled pork and fishing poles to participate in the American Bass Anglers tournament this weekend (10/16-10/17) in Bainbridge.
In addition to the fishing and best barbecue tournaments on beautiful Lake Seminole, there are lots of family-friendly activities like face painting, inflatable rides, and live music.
Emergency personnel say that, though many chefs are hard at work on their gas-powered grills, all lines and other machinery are set up safely.
Says BBQ competitor J. Lacey, "It's a great social time, you know, people come out here to have fun... family and friends get together."
People say that, though they are happy the event provides entertainment, they are even happier about what it does for their economy:
"You know, it brings out a lot of people, a lot of vendors are out here selling stuff."
"It brings a lot of folks from around...there's people from all over the United States coming, hopefully it'll help our economy."
The event is one of three fishing tournaments Bainbridge will host this month, (October) thanks to three recently unveiled "mega ramps" that allow multiple boats to load at once.
The ramps are a part of the Go Fish GA initiative designed by Governor Sonny Perdue to stimulate the economy and get more people outdoors.
