Atlanta, Georgia (AP) --

A spokeswoman for Roy Barnes' gubernatorial
campaign says the candidate's 4-year-old granddaughter has been
released from an Atlanta hospital after undergoing arm surgery.

Spokeswoman Anna Ruth Williams said Tuesday, October 12, the operation was performed on Monday at Scottish Rite Hospital in Atlanta. The child, Ella Salter, suffered the broken arm in a highway accident on Sunday that killed the 17-year-old driver of the other vehicle.

The child's mother, Allison Barnes Salter, was driving a minivan
that was involved in the collision with a Porsche driven by Mario
Zuniga, who died on Monday at Atlanta Medical Center.

The woman, Barnes' daughter, was treated for arm and foot
injuries. Her elder daughter, 7-year-old Lilly Salter, was treated
for injuries and released on Sunday.

Barnes, who cancelled campaign appearances after the accident,
resumed activities on Tuesday.
