Mother Remembers Son Killed In Bike Accident

Moultrie, GA - September 18, 2012

Ann Willis holds on tightly to a picture of her son. Andy Crosby, 42, was killed Sunday, Sept. 16 as he was riding his bicycle, headed north along U.S. Highway 319.

Willis fondly remembers her son as, "Easy going, laid back, got along with anybody. Smiling, always smiling."

According to reports by the Grady County coroner, Crosby was struck from behind by a pickup truck and was thrown into a ditch alongside the road.

For Willis, it's another heartbreaking loss she is trying to make sense of.

"It's going to be rough," she said. "My husband passed away six months and a week ago. So I was dealing with that and now I have to deal with this, too."

Crosby grew up in Moultrie, but had been living in Tallahassee, where he worked as a self-employed painter.

He graduated from Valdosta State University with a degree in Fine Arts. Willis says her house is filled with his paintings and artwork, given to her as gifts over the years.

Her hope is that through all of the tragedy, those who knew Crosby can still find peace.

"I want them to remember all the good times, the happy times, they had with him and enjoy that," she said.

Willis says Crosby will be laid to rest on Wednesday afternoon in Moultrie, next to his father and grandparents.

The Georgia State Patrol is still investigating the accident. At this time, no charges have been filed against the driver.
