A South Georgia woman, who's been missing for a week, is found dead, buried in her own backyard.

And her husband is considered the prime suspect in her death.

At around 4:30 PM on March 19th, he was arrested after a citizen spotted him in his Chevy Camaro, which was spray painted black.

Pendleton will likely be transported back to Lowndes later today and will be charged with the murder of his wife Lynn Pendleton, 51.

Deputies continue to investigate the discovery of human remains found Thursday night at 5662 Scruggs Circle in Hahira.

"It's very scary. Very, very scary," said neighbor Travis Miller, 19.

Word spread quickly that the body may be Lynn Pendleton, 51.

The thought of Pendleton's body being buried behind a privacy fence, had those in the neighborhood questioning how crime had found its way to this quiet street.

"It's close. It's close to home," said neighbor Cedric Brown, 21. "What would you do if it happened to your house? If it was right down the street from you?"

Deputies say Pendleton's husband, William Pendleton, 51, is a suspect in the case.

And is nowhere to be found.

Officers believe he took off in a red 1996 Chevy Camaro with flames painted on the hood and front quarter panels.

Three houses down, Miller says the couple kept to themselves. "She was out in the yard for two straight months cleaning up the yard, fixing stuff up," he said. "I haven't seen her in two months. That's what my family's talking about. She just kinda like, she just went missing."

Neighbors alike have questions and say they just want closure.

"I hope she didn't get buried alive, you know," said Brown. "That's a shock. That's crazy."

The Lowndes County Sheriff's Office has confirmed an autopsy report revealed that Mrs. Pendleton died from strangulation.

And Investigators are working every possible lead.

But they need the public's help to find him.

They say Pendleton is about 6 foot 2 and 156 pounds.

If you anyone has any information, call the Lowndes County Sheriff's office at (229) 671-2950.
