Colquitt County deputies say they responded to a call early Tuesday (12/14) morning that two men had been fighting with a lead pipe and an ax handle.
They say 35-year-old Don Smith Jr. picked up the pipe after being told by his father, 57-year-old Don Smith Sr. to leave the last cup of coffee in the pot for his mother.
Smith Sr. told authorities he picked up the ax handle to protect himself.
Deputies say they could not determine who started the fight when they arrived on scene, as both men were cut and bruised.
Smith Jr. and Smith Sr. are both charged with battery.
