South Georgia authorities discover a body in a burning vehicle last night off Barker Road in Berrien County.

"They were terrified," says Lisa Weaver, about her three children, who couldn't sleep last night after word spread that a body was burning on Barker Road.

It was about 200 feet from her Weaver Road home.

"All three of them really was crying," says Weaver, who's family has lived in the area for four generations. "And they was scared to go in and go in their own bed to go to sleep because it happened right here at the house."

Just before 8 p.m. Tuesday, the GBI responded to a vehicle on fire with an unidentified body inside.

What's left are broken headlights, burnt rubber and metal sidings of what neighbors say was a blue vehicle with Florida plates.

"It worries me, you know, to see a vehicle come through here that don't belong here," says neighbor Michael Bennett.

Still, investigators are offering little information on the case.

They won't reveal the make and model of the car, but charred remains show it was a Ford pickup.

Nearby residents like Michael Bennett worry that simply watching out for his neighbors is not enough.

"Are you gonna have to be more bound to your house?," says Bennett. "Are you gonna be able to get out and do stuff in your yard and not have to watch your back?

The body was transported to a GBI crime lab, where investigators hope to ID the body with DNA and dental records.

The GBI says they're treating this as a "very suspicious death," according to investigator Russell Mansfield.

They have no suspects in custody.
