The presidential race is heating up heading into the July Primaries, but Georgia voters are also taking a look at candidates for local races.
The qualifiers are this week for primary elections in every county in Georgia. That's where candidates register for the elections and pay qualifying fees. The fees are based on that position's salary and vary per job.
They run from Wednesday through Friday during regualar buisness hours at respective board of elections offices.
"Here in Lowndes County the positions (open) range from school all the way up to sheriff. There are about 20 Lowndes County spots open," said Lowndes County Election Official William Kendrick.
The Primaries are July 31st.
