City officials say now they're just waiting on approval from the Army Corps of Engineers, Georgia Department of Transportation and Georgia Environmental Protection Division to replace the eroded Cherokee Lake spillway.
The new spillway will have room for the installation of a release valve.
The valve can be used when the lake needs to be drained.
