A grand opening was held at 1701 Patterson Street to welcome the Rite Care Clinic, which is sponsored by the Scottish Rite Foundation.
It's one of many established centers nationwide dedicated to helping kids overcome communication barriers.
The clinic has partnered with More than Words, an already established pediatric therapy center at the same location, to help children with speech, language and literacy disorders.
"It will benefit children that are struggling in schools, struggling with communicating," said Jan Rowland, a speech therapist and the owner of More than Words. "We have many children who have normal intelligence but they're unable to communicate their wants and needs," she said about her clinic.
Valdosta's Rite Care Clinic is the fifth of its kind in the state and the first to open in south Georgia.
