CARTERSVILLE, GA -- Christmas Trees now sitting in north
Georgia living rooms could soon be headed head for the bottom of
Lake Allatoona in an effort to build fish habitat.

The Daily Tribune News reports that Keep Bartow Beautiful is
urging residents to bring their old Christmas trees to collection
centers.

Those trees are eventually secured to concrete molds on the
lake bed that give fish a place to breed and protection from
predators. As an added benefit, the trees help draw fish to
favorite angling spots.

Keep Bartow Beautiful director Sherri Henshaw said state rules
forbid tossing Christmas trees into landfills, which helps promote
the recycling program.
