Valdosta, GA - Construction has already begun on the two mains that will be available to residents in Annexed Islands 27, 35B, and 77C if they choose.
The ity will host a public meeting on Wednesday at 6 pm in the Valdosta City Hall Annex Room, located at 300 N. Lee Street, for homeowners and residents affected by the Annexed Islands Construction Schedule.
"They're definitely going to affect the motorists and the people traveling public. Basically it's the construction. We have, within the neighborhoods we will have water and sewer extended to them, but also we have to connect to the mains, which run along the main roads" says Jim Martinez, Engineering Project Manager for the City of Valdosta.
Martinez says commuters and homeowners in the area can expect lane closures during the construction.
According to The City, Annexed Island 27 is located in the Highland Heights area, which includes Bemiss Road, Tomlinson Road, Heirs Street, Hamm Street, Highland Heights Drive, 1st, 2nd & 3rd Streets, Gard Street and Highland Heights Lane. The scope of the projects also involves removing and replacing driveways and pavement, monitoring traffic control and erosion control, and other related work.
