Valdosta, GA -- September 19, 2011 --

Construction work on Martin Luther King, Jr. Drive will resume on or about Sept. 21, 2011.

AT&T and Georgia Power recently completed their portion of the overhead utilities work for the corridor project. The remaining construction for this phase along Martin Luther King, Jr. Drive, between S. Ashley and S. Lee Streets, will take place over the next few months. The work consists of constructing new sidewalks on both sides of the road, new irrigation and landscaping, the adjustment of water valves, the replacement of manholes and water meters, clean outs for sewer services, and final asphalt paving and striping. This work is expected to be completed by mid November 2011, weather permitting.

Martin Luther King, Jr. Drive may be closed at certain times during the construction phase, and motorists and pedestrians are asked to avoid this area if possible, for their safety and the safety of the construction crews.

Good information but local citizens need to know what our elected officials are doing about the many problems brought before their elected officials. There is no need of keeping citizens deaf; dumb; and blind to the status of problems in their community. George Boston Rhynes You tube: bostongbr
