At the Judicial Complex, more than 100 people came together to bid farewell to Robert Carter and Richard Lee.

It was the community's way of saying thank you for their hard work and dedication.

Combined both men have served Lowndes County for more than 60 years.

Lee is proud of the replacement of Staten Road and Carter for his role as sheriff for eighteen years.

"Sometimes it was real easy and it sometimes it was very different," said Robert Carter, the County Commissioner for District Three." Everybody wants something but nobody do want to pay for it."

"It's easy to complain and have issues and problems with what government is doing," said Richard Lee, the County Commissioner for District Two. "It's a lot harder to step up and try to be a part of the solution. And that's what's always driven me."

Richard Raines and Crawford Powell are the incoming commissioners.

They take office in January.
