Around 7 p.m. Tuesday, city workers responded to sewage gushing out of a manhole in the parking lot entrance of Harveys on Bemiss Road.
Officials say waste water has leaked into Cherry Creek behind the supermarket, which was caused by a grease blockage.
They say the spill occurred at 3 p.m. and was stopped by 11:59 p.m.
Workers on site are testing the stream's toxicity.
Officials say pipe lines are now clean and roadways have been disinfected with bleach.
