Atlanta, GA (AP) - Gov-elect Nathan Deal says he offered the state's
revenue commissioner a job in his administration.
But Bart Graham says that's news to him. In an e-mail to The
Associated Press on Friday, Graham said the only thing he's been
told is that he's being replaced as the state's revenue chief.
Deal announced that he's appointing Republican secretary of
state candidate Doug McGinnitie as Georgia's new revenue
commissioner. A release from the Republican's transition team said
Graham has accepted a job in the Deal administration in the Office
of the State Treasurer.
The Deal camp stood by the statement Friday night and said they
would seek to clarify any miscommunication with Graham.
Graham clashes with then-U.S. Rep. Deal over a state vehicle
inspection program led to a congressional ethics probe.
