Valdosta, Georgia - July 27, 2012 -
After additional investigation, it was discovered that this group were likely involved in burglaries of businesses being investigated by the Valdosta Police Department. In a joint effort of the two agencies, two additional persons have been identified and investigators are searching for one additional person for questioning. Dante Drew and Michael Brock were identified as having been involved in this event and burglaries within the city of Valdosta. Both were arrested on Thursday afternoon and transported to the Lowndes County Jail where they will be held. Additional charges are being sought by detectives with the Valdosta Police Department. All three of the arrested persons will appear before a Lowndes County Magistrate Judge for an arraignment hearing where a bond will be considered.
Sheriff Prine has re-iterated that this investigation is on-going and additional arrest will be made in the near future.
Valdosta, Georgia - July 26, 2012 -
Lowndes County Sheriff Prine stated that this morning around 1:30 deputies from his office responded to an alarm at Robinson Recycling, located at 1020 Howell Road in Valdosta. When the deputies arrived they noticed a vehicle fleeing the area. LCSO deputies gave chase and the car eventually crashed, striking a building at the intersection of Griffin Avenue and Payne Avenue. The vehicle occupants, four of them, exited the car and fled on foot. One of the persons ran into a responding deputy’s vehicle damaging the mirror as he attempted to flee the area. This person was not injured and continued to run on foot. A canine from the Sheriff’s Office, who had also responded to the scene, began tracking and eventually located Taylor Devont Bell a short distance away.
Taylor Bell was transported to the Lowndes County Jail where he was charged with Burglary – felony, Criminal trespass – misdemeanor and Interference with government property - felony. Bell will appear before a Lowndes County Magistrate Judge this afternoon where a bond will be considered.
Sheriff Prine indicated that this investigation is on-going in an effort to identify the other persons involved. Additional arrest will be made as the other parties are identified. Sheriff Prine also commended the deputies for their quick response and alert actions that led to the arrest of this individual.
