Thomasville, GA- Dozens of golfers took swings for a good cause Monday.

Teams of four made their way to Glen Arven Country Club in Thomasville for the Southwest Georgia Technical College’s Foundation's 12th Annual Thomas County Golf Tournament.

All the proceeds from Monday's event will go towards providing financial assistance to SWGTC students.

"A lot of our students are unable to make those payments or buy the supplies that they need to continue in school, so we are here and able to help with those things that those students need and to help bridge the gap between their out of pocket expenses and what they qualify for in financial aid," said Amy Maison, SWGTC's Executive Director of Institutional Advancement, Marketing and Public Relations.

Maison says during this year's Spring semester, they awarded more than $50,000 in scholarships to SWGTC students thanks to fundraisers like Monday's golf tournament.
