Atlanta GA – An Echols County grandfather has ushered in a towering prize from the Georgia Lottery. William Morris of Statenville won a $250,000 prize playing the instant game Millionaire Jumbo Bucks.

Morris, 64, claimed his prize Monday at the Georgia Lottery District Office in Tifton.

An Army veteran, Morris and his wife, Brenda, have six adult daughters and 27 grandchildren.

“We’ll help the kids,” he shared.

Wildcats Food Mart, 124 Highway 94 E. in Statenville, sold the winning ticket.

“I stopped for gas and bought a ticket,” said Morris, who scratched it while in his truck. “I didn’t have on my reading glasses, so I drove home and showed it to my wife.”

The lucky lottery winner is excited.

Millionaire Jumbo Bucks is a Georgia Lottery instant game loaded with cash prizes of up to $2.5 million.

Since its first year, the Georgia Lottery Corp. has returned more than $13.8 billion to the state of Georgia for education. All Georgia Lottery profits go to pay for specific educational programs, including Georgia’s HOPE Scholarship Program and Georgia’s Pre-K Program. More than 1.4 million students have received HOPE, and more than 1.2 million 4-year-olds have attended the statewide, voluntary prekindergarten program.
