It's not everyday that Florida State and Valdosta State cross paths in athletics. But when VSU heard there was a chance to come to Tallahassee and play in one of the biggest games in the programs history, they jumped at the chance.
The Florida State Seminoles and the Valdosta State Blazers haven't met on the baseball diamond in 23 years... but that isn't stopping fans from choosing their sides.
FSU Fan Robert Johnson said, "Go Florida State, we're the best baseball team in the nation. I say, anyone that wants to challenge us can come ahead and challenge us, anytime."
As the players from both teams took batting practice, fans weighed in on the outcome.
Melanie Cabassol goes to all of the baseball games. She said, "I think the team's ready. They had the night off last night , unfortunately the game was canceled. So they're fresh, they're ready to go."
"I can't wait to watch it. To all of the opposition out there-- come get some, we're ready. Florida State baby," said FSU Student and fan Brandon Calhoun.
Valdosta Fans showed their spirit, yelling, "Go Blazers!!"
VSU fans we talked to say seeing their team play is worth any drive, especially a game as close as Tallahassee.
Two of the players reunited before the game, and fans were hoping for a nail biter, but only one team would be happy in the end.
Danny Groves son plays for FSU. He said, "You might be surprised.. it's a good match up... It's going to be the pitching."
