The Georgia State Patrol reports a fatal crash at Georgia Highway 37 and Highway 93 between Moultrie and Camillia.
A black International truck ran a stop sign and hit a white Chevy Malibu. The truck was traveling south on Hwy 93, and the car was traveling west on 37. The driver of the car was killed instantly. The car broke into three pieces when hit by the truck and the pieces ended up in a nearby ditch. The crash happened around 4pm on November 9.
The driver of the car was Joe Adams, 50, from Pelham, Georgia.
The driver of the truck was Kerry Michael Mullins, 53. Mullins is being held in the Mitchell County Jail at this time. Mullins is charged with Second Degree Vehicular Homicide and Failure to Stop at a Stop Sign.
GSP is still waiting on blood work, but alcohol is not suspected. The truck driver said that the stop sign came up quickly and he was unfamiliar with the area. GSP notes that there are "rumble strips" and stop sign warning signs before the intersection.
GSP responded to the crash with assistance from the Mitchell County Sheriff’s Department. Trooper Jones with GSP is working on the case.
