"Feed My School For A Week" Program Applications Now Available

Schools will soon be working with farmers to bring more nutritous food to the cafeteria.

It is called the "Feed My School For A Week" Program.The Department of Agriculture is accepting applications from school districts.

The program aims to educate teacher, parents and students about more nutritious meals and will provide Georgia-grown goods for breakfast and lunch for an entire week.

"First of all you have to remember, it is your school, so 'Feed My School,' if we get those local farmers, parents and the students taking ownership of their school changing the direction and quality of their meals and improving market opportunities for the local producer, man I tell you everybody wins," said Georgia Department of Agriculture Commissioner Gary Black.
