The Board of Regents has given Valdosta State permission to waive institutional, technology and other student fees for active duty military service members.

This year, The Department of Defense adopted a new policy that would no longer cover certain fees.

"We're very proud of our servicemen and women. We have an ROTC Detachment on campus. We honor our veterans and military personnel at all our graduation ceremonies, we've always had a strong relationship with our military community," said VSU Assistant President of Communications Thressa Boyd.

VSU has nearly 50 active duty students enrolled each semester from the surrounding bases Kings Bay Naval Submarine Base, Moody Air Force Base and the Marine Corps Logistics Base.
