Family members of the man who lost his home in the Berlin, GA fire have contacted WCTV with an address for anyone who would like to donate items to the victim:

Carl J. Cook
1040 Wesley Chapel Road
Moultrie, Ga 31788.

Witnesses say the fire broke out at 1040 Wesley Chapel Road around 2 o'clock yesterday (1/18) afternoon while the person who lived there was outside talking on the phone.

Now, community leaders are offering their support to the uninjured, but shaken, man.

Mayor Dale Williams says, "A house can be replaced, but personal things can't be, and we hate to see people lose that ... but we're very thankful for the volunteer firefighters and American Red Cross for coming down here."

The man who lived in the home didn't want to be identified, but told us he was renting the place and working as a caretaker for the property.

He says he managed to salvage some books and other personal belongings from the rubble today (1/19).

No other property was damaged during the fire.
