Fire officials say their old furniture was in need of replacing: chairs and sofas were ratty from use, and holes were starting to develop in some places from wear.
Both Woodhaven Furniture and fire station personnel say they feel lucky to have been involved with the exchange.
The Coolidge fire chief says between $5,000-$6,000 worth of furniture was donated. He says, because firefighters spend almost one-third of their lives at the station, getting the new furnishings was especially important for on-call staff.
Employees of the furniture manufacturer say they were happy to give the furnishings to people who are so "dedicated and caring" to the community.
