Local flower shop owners say there once was a time when they could deliver orders for free, but now with gas climbing close to four dollars a gallon, they say that's something they can no longer do.
Owners of the Thomasville Flower Shop say they're expecting to make more than 300 door-to-door deliveries this Mothers Day weekend.
"It forces us to charge for every delivery no matter where it's going. We can't afford to put gas in our vehicles without doing it," says flower shop owner Jim McRay.
McRay says his customers are very understanding when it comes to the extra delivery charge.
