Joel Manby was on the CBS show Undercover Boss in 2010. His episode was watched by 18 million people. We found out why.
Manby is the CEO of Herschend Family Entertainment which, including Wild Adventures, owns 26 different properties and employs more than 10,000 people. His experience on Undercover Boss exposed harsher realities of working environments.
Manby said "what was most impactful to me was the feedback I got from the American people. Thousand of letters and emails came in from people who are frusterated with their working environments. And they wanted to work for a company similar to ours that cared about it's employees"
That care is represented through a program called Share it Forward, which helps employees like Monica Haynes that need financial help. A few years ago Monica's sister, who had a baby, passed away.
Monica said "the baby just went with me and so I became a parent rather quickly. And I didn't have all the tools I needed, and Share It Forward stepped up and helped me get food and diapers and everything that I needed to get started with the baby."
Monica's daughter, Layla is healthy and doing very well.
Joel Manby was in town to promote his new book on leadership called Love Works.
