Nathan Deal will finally get a party to celebrate
his inauguration as governor.
The gala was supposed to place Jan. 10, the day Deal was sworn
in as governor, but was scrapped because of an ice storm that
paralyzed metro-Atlanta. It will take place Monday night at the
Cobb Galleria and is free to anyone who wants to attend.
The event is being paid for by private donations. A Deal
spokesman has pledged to make the list of donors public following
the event.
The gala is designed to celebrate Deal's victory over his
Democratic opponent, former Gov. Roy Barnes, in November, as well
as the historic Republican sweep in Georgia. The GOP now controls
every statewide elected office in the state.
