Gardeners Gearing Up For Thomasville's Annual Camellia Show

By: Kara Duffy

Thomasville, GA- Gardeners across Southwest Georgia are gearing up for the annual Camellia Show.

Come Saturday afternoon, the Thomasville Garden Center will be filled with hundreds of camellia flowers.

For months, members of local garden clubs have been preparing for the event.

Organizers say each flower will be judged based on their blossoms, foliage, and classification.

They say all are welcome to attend and participate.

"We're just encouraging the public to come out and if they'd like to enter a camellia from their yard in the show, they just need to bring it to the Garden Center between 7:30 and 10:00 in the morning," said Jane Delarber, the Co Chair of the Camellia Show.

Organizers say more than 70 varieties of the flower are grown right in Thomasville.

The show will be held Saturday, Feb. 9 from 1:30--5:00p.m. at the Thomasville Garden Center. The address is 1102 South Broad Street, Thomasville, GA.
