MARIETTA, Ga. (AP) -- A judge sentenced a Georgia man to three years in prison for throwing a dog off a motel's second-floor balcony.
Cobb County Judge Steven Schuster imposed the sentence Friday on Marcell Sibley.
The Smyrna man told the judge he felt bad about what he had done and doesn't know why it happened.
The dog had permanent injuries but survived. It's now living with a new family in Florida.
WSB-TV (http://bit.ly/1fGbVZN ) reports a security camera captured images of a man grabbing a small dog by the neck and hitting it.
He then puts the animal in a crate and throws it off the balcony to the concrete parking lot below.
A witness found the animal alive and saved it.
