Valdosta, GA -- June 1, 2012 --
Georgia farmers are about to get a big boost from sales around the world.
The Georgia Department of Economic Development and the Georgia Department of Agriculture signed an agreement with the Southern United States Trade Association. That memorandum took effect Friday.
It paves the way to streamlining the export process for Georgia agricultural products like peanuts, peaches and pecans.
"Georgia has a lot to offer the world in our way of agricultural products. We are the largest producer of pecans in the nation. And with all the studies being done on pecans we are starting to see all the nutritional benefits with pecans being the leading nut in anti-oxidants," said Paul Joseph, Georgia Pecan Producer.
The agreement was signed during an agriculture trade mission in Turkey.
