The 21st Annual America's Health rankings released this week has Georgia rated 36 out of the 50 states.
That is up seven spots from where the state was ranked last at 43.
Health officials say if residents want to improve that number they have to continue to improve their lifestyle.
"Well some of the easy things they can do is making sure they are staying away from really fatty foods and also making sure they're getting their fruits and vegetables," said Courtney Sheeley.
Health officials say eating right can also strengthen bones and help to prevent diabetes.
