New legislation taking effect next year lets Georgians keep closer tabs on what lobbyists spend wining and dining state lawmakers.
But the new ethics legislation taking effect Jan 1. doesn't
limit what those lobbyists can spend.
Watchdog groups say the new law requires additional
transparency, but they warn that the overhaul doesn't address many
of the ethical concerns that dogged Georgia.
Also to take effect in January is a measure that requires
governments to send homeowners a notice of assessment every year.
