DALTON, Ga. (AP) --

Inmates at the Whitfield County Jail say they were humiliated by being held naked for 12 hours and forced to spread cream on their bodies.

Whitfield County sheriff's Capt. Wesley Lynch the inmates were
made to disrobe to combat an outbreak of body lice in one of the
cell blocks, which had to be decontaminated. He says an ointment
was applied to the inmates to kill the lice.

Inmates David Bennett and Jesus Gallardo outline their
allegations in a federal lawsuit filed in U.S. District Court in
Rome that seeks $5 million. They say more than two dozen inmates
had to undergo the treatment. Sheriff Scott Chitwood, Lynch and
other sheriff's officers are named as defendants.

Lynch said one employee was given a formal written reprimand
after the incident.

It's amazing but so true....many cop bashers can't spell a lick. That tells me they are uneducated and prone to criminal acts.

If you don't like the treatment then stay out of jail. You are being treated at my expense, I should complaining. You"re the one wasting my tax money. As far as I'm concerned you gave up your rights the minute you broke the law.

They want it both ways. They would sue if they didn't treat them for lice, or they would sue for treating them for lice. These are true inmates playing the system. What they have to be able to prove is that they were somehow mistreated. How would they treat the lice without the inmates filing suit. You have to realize that these are inmates, and many of them do not take the best care of themselves so the officers and medical staff have to make sure that their medical needs (lice treatment) are taken care of effectively. We don't have the whole story here.
