Thomasville, GA - Georgia Governor Nathan Deal's wife, Sandra, stopped by Brookwood Elementary School Wednesday morning to read to students, and even shared a poem written by the Governor.
It's all part of the state-wide initiative, "Read Across Georgia."
The First Lady said the initiative is something her and her husband are very passionate about.
"We want every child in this state to be able to choose whether or not they want to go to college or a technical school and hold a good job," she said. "We want that to be a choice and we feel like this gives them that choice, if we can get them proficient at reading at an early age."
The First Lady also made stops to elementary schools in Brooks and Grady County to read to young learners.
