Grady County, GA - There's new effort to have a full time Fire Chief run the Volunteer Fire Department in Grady County.

Right now the chief position is part time. Grady County's Administrator said he'd like to improve the ratings of the Volunteer Fire Department. He also said more fire stations will need to be built throughout the county and he believes having a full time chief will help with the county's safety.

"We are adjusting the budget right now. We are going to eliminate two position, the Volunteer Fire Department Coordinator and the Rescue Truck Operator and combine that and make that one position as the full time Fire Chief," said Carlos Tobar, Grady County Administrator.

The County Administrator said he expects to hear a decision from the County Commissioners in the next four to six weeks.
