Board members say one of the main reasons for renewing the contract through June of 2013 is that Pharis has a good plan for the school system and keeps education in the county on the right track.
Pharis says the school system will continue to improve with the help of dedicated teachers and a caring community.
Says Pharis, "People say, 'Well what are you trying to do? What's your vision?' and when I tell them, some people chuckle ... but it's real that we are going to create the best school system in Georgia."
Grady County has seven schools that educate approximately 4,500 students each year.
Pharis says his goal is to create the best opportunities and working environments for children in the county.
