A Grady County organization will be able to help a few more needy citizens, thanks to a grant from the Southwest Georgia Cancer Coalition.
The $6,000 grant will be used by the Grady County Help Agency to provide assistance to families whose financial problems have been compounded by cancer.
Agency volunteers say about one-tenth of citizens they serve have been affected by the disease.
The agency is funded under the United Way, and all staff members are volunteers from the community.
It is open Tuesday and Wednesday mornings, and helps families in need on a first-come, first-served basis.
