Three victims of identity theft reported several bank accounts being opened in their names.

They say money was withdrawn from their accounts and thieves tried to collect their tax returns.

Authorities say to be careful about what you put online.

"They leave all their information on that social network and a lot of the criminals are getting the information that way," says Valdosta Police Officer Vernotis Williams.

Police say thieves only need a name and a birth date to sign-up for a credit card.
