Valdosta, GA -- October 7, 2011 --

From her earrings, to her shoes, to the belt around her waist, LaVerne Rome supports both the Valdosta City School System and Lowndes County School System.

But she doesn't support school unification.

Rome is the mother of former Valdosta High Wildcat star and Georgia Bulldog Jay Rome, but she herself is a graduate of the Lowndes County School System and says it needs to be about the students.

"If you have two school systems and both school systems are opposing it, I don't think it's in the best interest of the children," said Rome.

Community Unification for Educational Excellence - or CUEE - is the organization trying to consolidate the schools.

CUEE says it won't affect the Winnersville Classic, but it's a very real concern for students.

"I've been with Valdosta City Schools since I was a little kid. I wouldn't want to go to Lowndes High," said Valdosta High School Senior Jared Koeppel.

Fans wonder what will happen to this classic if the schools consolidate.

It's an issue that will lie in the hands of voters November 8th
